The "Silver Wings" Siberian bugloss (Brunnera macrophylla 'Silver Wings') is a low growing, yet exceptionally valuable, long-lived ornamental plant that would delight first and foremost with its foliage. The cultivar offered here forms 30-40 cm tall tufts. An extremely easy to grow perennial dazzles with its large, cordate (heart-shaped), stiff leaves. A silver-green decorative pattern can be seen both on the surface of the leaf and underneath. It is this very pattern that gives the plant the undisputed ornamental value. The "Silver Wings" great forget-me-not, as it is sometimes called, maintains its visual features all season long and is additionally adorned with small, bright blue flowers, resembling the forget-me-not blooms, from spring to the middle of summer.

Rhizomes of the Brunnera macrophylla species should be planted in spring in moist and humous, medium compact soil. Choose a partially shady site for Siberian bugloss cultures. A border surrounded by trees, a relaxation spot, pond edge or a perennial grouping are some of the recommended sites. The undemanding, sturdy "Silver Wings" Siberian bugloss likes the company of hostas, fens, alumroots, bergenias, astilbes and other perennials with ornamental foliage. You may also combine it with spring and summer flowers. This plant does not require any covering for the winter, nor excavating.
