The Tambourine hosta is a perennial plant that produces grey-green leaves with a light edge. It grows moderately quickly and reaches height of 35 to 45 centimetres and a width of about 60 centimetres. Leaf blades are oval, cordate at the base, and visibly veined. The colour of the edge varies from yellow, through creamy-white, turning almost clean white at the peak of the season. Subtle stripes can be seen where both colours melt. Petioles of the mature plants are green with white pattern. They can be purplish at the outer side. Flower clusters that consist of funnel-shaped, light lavender purple flowers develop in July and August atop 50-centimetres tall stalks. Presented cultivar thrives both on borders and in planters. Hosta can be used as covering plant at shaded situations and in partial shade. This species looks great in oriental gardens that are full of exotic flair and in natural parks.

Growing this perennial, that is available in our garden store, is easy. Hosta is a forgiving plant even for the beginning gardeners. It is sturdy, undemanding, and handles small growers' mistakes well. Their rhizomes can be planted all spring and summer long, except for the hottest months. They quickly adapt to a moderately moist, humous, slight acidic soils. We recommend covering the ground where hostas grow with mulch that prevents from water loss and prevents weeds from growing. Hosta must be watered during drought. Fertilization, preferably organic, is recommended in the first years of growing.
