The 'Violet Star' (Anemone blanda) Balkan anemone is a low growing and compact, yet abundantly blooming early spring perennial. Its flowers resemble daisies, but they are way larger and take on various attractive colours. The petals of the variety that we offer here take on deep purple tones. The centre is adorned with a white eye. Grecian windflowers, as this plant is also called, grow as dense tufts that are no higher than 15 cm. Not only their numerous flowers, but also the ornamentally dentate, dark green leaves present high ornamental value.
The bulbs of the 'Violet Star' Balkan anemone can be planted on flower beds, borders and in rock gardens. This rather undemanding perennial prefers sunny sites and permeable, loose soils. Partial shade will not do it any harm and it prefers such situations when cultivated in pots. The charming appearance is by far not the sole advantage of the presented plant, you should also value its vigour and long flowering time. The purple-white flowers of this magnificent perennial can be admired from the end of March until the last decade of April. They look spectacular when combined with Lenten rose, Siberian squill, spring snowflake, jonquilla daffodils and botanical tulips.
Each package contains 80 bulbs of the Violet Star Balkan anemone sized 5/6 cm in circumference. Essential plant growing instructions can be found in the package information.
