Butterhead lettuce "Nochowska" (Lactuca sativa var. capitata) is a medium late lettuce variety that produces quite large, round heads of large yellow-green outer leaves. It is intended for direct consumption. Tender, deliciously tasting leaves form an ideal addition to sandwiches, as well as to multi-vitamin salads and dish garnish. Lettuce leaves are a rich source of kalium, calcium and iron, as well as vitamins C, PP, E and provitamin A. They are easily digestible and low-calorie, what allows us to eat every amount of them.

Lettuce "Nochowska" can be grown in the field and under unheated covers. It is resistant to high temperatures and does not produce flowering stalks. It can be grown from seedlings or direct sow to the permanent site. Seeds of this variety for late-spring and autumn harvest are sown starting mid-March onto a seed bed, or in April and May in an unheated tunnel. Seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site in the third decade of April in 30-40 x 20-25 cm spacings. You harvest the lettuce from spring sow from May until July. August is the second lettuce sowing period, when you may put seeds directly into the soil. In this case you will harvest lettuce heads from mid-September until October. The soil for lettuce cultivation needs to be moderately moist, permeable, fertile, non-acidic and rich in nutrients. This plants yields richest crops on sunny and warm sites.

A package contains 2 g of "Nochowska" lettuce seeds, as well as the sow-by date and growing instructions.
