The 'Asterix F1' celeriac (Apium graveolens), whose calibrated, 0.9 - 1.1, seeds are offered here in 2500 piece packages, belongs to the best domestic varieties of this vegetable. The F1 hybrid variety that we present here stands out with excellent vigour and productivity. Its stems - most commonly called roots - mature rather early, already 90 days after the start of the cultivation. Thanks to the resistance to the Septoria leaf spot and vernalisation, the 'Asterix F1' variety delivers rich yield of excellent structure. One of the characteristics of the presented variety is quick growth of the stem (hypocotyl) at the early stage. That is why its young stems can be harvested very early together with the leaves. The stems left to ripen take on a regular spherical shape. They are covered with smooth skin, have small roots that grow in the bottom part and consist of crunchy, compact, creamy-white flesh that does not discolour and delights with its quality, distinct taste and wonderful aroma. The mature roots that should harvested about 130 days after the sow can be stored long term without any loss to their nutritional and taste value. The 'Asterix F1' celeriac is recommended for consumption after short cooking. Its stems do not change colour when processed. The younger stems offer delicious material for salads, vegetable smoothies, cream soups and pickles. The rich foliage can be used in soup greens or an aromatic herb in soups, sauces, cold soups and other dishes. Celery root and the leaves are a low calorie vegetable that is rich in dietary fibre and vitamins, e.g. provitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and natrium.
Calibrated seeds of the 'Asterix F1' celeriac are easy to sow thanks to their even size. The production of seedlings should start at home or on a hotbed in early spring. Harden the seedlings at the end of April or in May and transplant to beds. The F1 hybrid cultivar that is offered here is resistant to vernalisation and does not require covering with fleece to protect it from colder weather. All fertile garden soils are suitable for celeriac cultures. This soil needs to be moist, moderately compact and permeable. Choose sunny and open sites.
The seeds of the 'Asterix F1' celeriac are first choice product that have been carefully selected. Only large, healthy seeds of similar size, 0.9-1.1, can be found in the package. Their large size guarantees high germination rate and excellent vigour of the seedlings. These plants show higher growth strength already at the emergence stage, what allows you to obtain first class yield of excellent structure, without smaller stems of lesser quality. Professional seeds ensure that the early harvested celeriac roots will delight with their excellent taste and health. They can be used for consumption right after the harvest or long term storage.
Each package contains 2500 calibrated seeds of the 'Asterix F1' celeriac. The growing instructions and the sow-by date can be found in the packaging information.

Exclusion of the middlemen from the whole process not only makes it possible for us to avoid sending out-of-date seeds that might have been lying too long on a warehouse shelf, but also ensures the most attractive price for top quality products.
The quality control process
All our seeds must pass a four-stage quality control process.
Stage one begins with a careful selection of the suppliers. Than we proceed with controlling their crops, foreign producers are not excluded from the quality control process. Plants are checked at every stage of their development: when they start to grow, during blooming and when they start bearing fruit (seeds). At this stage the most important thing is to ensure proper spacing of the plants. Thanks to that obtaining the desired morphological characteristics of each particular species or variety, such as colour, height and shape, can be ensured.
Stage two consists of a detailed verification tests in laboratory conditions. With the use of the highest quality equipment by the highly qualified staff, our suppliers perform more than 30 000 quality checks annually. The seeds that do not meet our requirements are subject to technological refining processes, including drying, cleaning, upgrading and testing again.
Stage three starts with sowing seeds in selected control plots. That way we obtain valuable, exact information concerning their germination that must be maintained at an appropriate level. Simultaneously, the varietal identity of each species is checked at this stage.
Stage four takes place in our warehouses and consists of eliminating seeds that have been stored for too long on our shelves and replacing them with new batches. Each package is stamped with a unique batch number and also with the sow-by-date.
All four stages combined allow us to state with confidence that the seeds we deliver comply with the highest standards and have completed all required control stages with flying colours.
