The "Purple Sensation" Dutch iris (Iris hollandica) is a real treat for all lovers of bulb flowers. We recommend to grow it on perennial beds and in rock gardens, but it will also supply you with valuable cut flowers. This Dutch iris produces extremely ornamental, deep purple flowers whose bottom petals are adorned with contrasting, bright yellow spots. The variety that we present here grows 60 cm tall on average. It dazzles with its marvellous flowers at the end of spring and in summer, from May to July.

Plant the "Purple Sensation" iris bulbs in spring or autumn 10 centimetres deep and 8 centimetres apart. Provide the plant with a sunny or partially shady site and a permeable, sandy and moderately moist soil. Even though it is rather resistant to frost, we advise to cover the site with mulch or conifer twigs.
