Garden Ferns - the ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris) is a popular, vigorously growing plant. Its up to 120 centimetres tall, juicy green leaves with a double pinnate structure are arranged in wide funnels. The ostrich feather-like leaves constitute a seasonal garden decoration, as they die quickly when the temperature goes down. A fern that spreads thanks to its underground runners may occupy one place for many years. It is ideally suited for planting in the undergrowth of trees that provide this species' favourite lighting conditions, partial shade. It may also survive on a bright flower bed, but with only when regularly watered. The offered fern looks beautiful on wooded plots and on shady slopes. An additional advantage of the species is its high tolerance of species with a strong root system. Presented ostrich fern harmonizes with trees and shrubs. This vigorously growing fern can also become a covering plant for the less attractive terrain. It allows you to achieve a picturesque, forest atmosphere in the garden or on the property. It perfectly fits onto edges of ponds and other water reservoirs. A combination of the ostrich fern with hosta and dark alumroot forms an eye-catching mixture of colours and shapes.

The ostrich fern is a maintenance-free plant. The only thing you must keep an eye on is the extent of its growth. It may also require watering during periods of drought. Like most ferns, it prefers humous, moist, and slightly acidic soil. It belongs to hardy species.

We hereby offer one seedling of the ostrich fern of the Garden Ferns series. Basic plant facts and growing instructions were printed on the package label.
