The purple-flowered "Rainbow (Tęcza)" garden petunia (Petunia hyb. grandiflora nana) is an unconventional annual plant with a seldom seen colouring and magnificent pattern on the petals. This tiny variety grows only 15 - 30 cm tall, but its erect, branched stems are crowned with myriads of large, funnel-shaped blooms. The paper-thin corollas take on a lavender-purple colour with remarkable darker veining that spreads radially outside from the centre of the flower. This plant develops blooms from May to October. We recommend to grow the "Tęcza" garden petunia on balconies, terraces and windowsills, preferably in larger containers placed on sunny sites. The variety offered in our store will grow in the ground, too, if you provide it with a sheltered, warm location - for example in company of yellow and orange pot marigolds.
The abundantly blooming plants require fertile and permeable soils, like sand-clay. The seeds are sown in winter or at the beginning of spring in a greenhouse or at home. Note: do not cover the seeds with soil, only press them gently into it. Transfer plants outside after the last frosts. Flower colour: purple.
