Garlic Chives are a perennial variety that grow 30 to 35 centimetres in height. They grow rapidly, forming dense clusters. This plant grows inflorescences that appear among its raised leaves; the inflorescences have beautiful umbels of star-shaped white flowers that grow from July to late September. Garlic Chives can be used in three different ways: they are a delicious vegetable, which is highly suitable for salads and dishes; with antiinflammatory, antiseptic and carminative qualities, they are a wonderful medicinal plant; and finally, their lovely chives make them a gorgeous ornamental variety. The leaves have a flavour and aroma similar to garlic and and are a rich source of micro- and macro-elements.
Growing: sow the seeds directly into the soil in rows in 30cm spacings from April to May. After the seeds have germinated, grow several plants in each position in 30cm spacings. The plants can be cultivated in the same position for 3 to 4 years. This variety grows best in relatively moist fertile soils.
