The "Barbados" Hippeastrum, amaryllis is an exceptionally attractive variety that develops dark red flowers with characteristic white stripes that run through the middle of the petals. These flowers develop already six to eight weeks after you have planted the bulbs. Blooms grow atom sturdy stems that might grow 50 to 60 centimetres tall. Plant amaryllis bulbs in pots whose diameter is not significantly larger than the diameter of the bulb. Make sure to leave one third of the bulb above the ground.
