The Red Ember Dutch iris will seduce many with its copper-brown flowers adorned with streaks of gold and purple. This reliable and easy to grow iris grows up to 60 cm tall.  It develops erect stems that end with a single, yet impressive flower. The yellow spots on the downward bent petals constitute a distinguishing characteristics of this species. The reddish blooms of this magnificent variety look spectacular on perennial and flower beds. They would also please the eyes when planted around gravel spots, alongside paths and pavements.   The Dutch irises can be successfully cultivated in ornamental containers of various shapes. Their striking flowers develop in most cases in June. Due to their erect habit they are commonly grown as cut flowers. In this form they would perfectly complement colourful bouquets, whom they will add style and grace to.

Dutch irises are rather undemanding in regard to the cultivation conditions to the contentment of many gardeners. A warm and wind-sheltered site plays a crucial role for the cultivation success of this cultivar group. You will achieve the best results by growing them in permeable, fertile soil that is rich in nutrients. It tolerates quite a range of soil reaction, but feels particularly well in those from slightly acidic to neutral.  The keys to successful iris cultivation are avoiding the shade and excess humidity. Dutch irises are hardy, but we recommend to mulch them before the winter. Cover the sites with dried leaves, tree bark, natural mulch or conifer twigs.

Each package contains 100 bulbs of the Red Ember Dutch iris, sized 7 to 8 cm in circumference.
