The orange-yellow "Carmine Brilliant" crocosmia (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora), sold in 10-piece packages in our garden market, is a wonderful montbretia with sunny flowers in all possible, bright and warm shades of orange and yellow. The variety offered in our store constitutes a universal garden decoration, that can also be grown in containers. It grows rather tall, up to 100 cm, and develops naked, tender shoots that in July start to disappear under the flower buds. Funnel-shaped flowers with thin, delicately bent petals form double ears. The blooms open gradually, extending the crocosmia flowering period until early autumn.

Montbretia bulbs should be planted rather densely, a few per hole. Second half of spring is the perfect time to transfer them outside. The "Carmine Brilliant" crocosmia will thrive on a sunny site in the humous, sufficiently moist soil. Excavate the bulbs in autumn in order to protect them from the frost. The subtle, slender flowering stalks of the orange-yellow crocosmia, flanked by the erect, sabre-shaped leaves, look spectacular on borders, lawns and in broad planters. It is worth cutting them to put them into vases. If you choose the ones with the majority of the buds still closed, you will be able to enjoy them for up to 10 days.
