The low growing "Aramis" snapdragon (Anthirrhinum majus nanum) surprises with the abundance of the uncommonly shaped blooms that take on deep, red colour. This annual plant grows 40 cm tall and takes on a compact, dense habit. It blooms repeatedly after removing stalks with wilting flowers. Its bilabiate, nicely shaped blooms that are gathered in large spikes atop the stems may be adorned starting from the middle of summer. The low growing "Aramis" snapdragon is perfectly suited for colourful flower beds and lawn edgings. You may combine it with similarly sized plants (including other snapdragons - we particularly recommend the "Atos" and "Portos" cultivars).
Seeds of this plant, that are available in our store, should be sown in spring to boxes placed on a windowsill in a heated room, in a greenhouse or on a hotbed. Seedlings need to be pricked out to multipots or biodegradable peat pots that may be planted in the ground together with the developing plants. Late spring is the right time to transplant young snapdragons to the garden. Soil prepared for "Aramis" snapdragon culture needs to be fertile, humous and sufficiently moist, while the site also needs to be sunny.
