Low growing yellow tulip - Greigii Yellow originates from the wild tulips that grow in Turkestan. Beautiful, broad, patterned leaves that adorn the plants before the blooming belong the most characteristic features of the plants. Stripes, smudges and spots may decorate the surface of the foliage. The size of the flower in comparison to the overall size of the plant also belongs to the advantages of the Greig's tulips. Large, egg-shaped flower heads display high ornamental value. Due to their size they are recommended for edgings, rock gardens and edges of the mixed borders. You may also plant them around the shrubs. They also look great in separate containers, in which they quickly become an intriguing balcony and terrace decoration. This tulip blooms mid-spring, end of April and at the beginning of May.

Plants of this particular variety grow 25 cm tall on average and prefer sunny sites. Plant the bulbs in autumn, preferably in September and October. Plant the bulbs into the properly prepared soil 2/3 of the height of the bulb deep (10 – 15 cm deep). The soil needs to be fertile, humous and permeable, yet not waterlogged, nor to moist. Bulbs of this cultivar do not need to get excavated and may stay at the same site for several years. They need covers. Remove the flower remains after blooming and the leaves only after they have wilted.
