The Orange martagon lily (Lilium martagon) is an exceptionally ornamental, slender, and abundantly flowering variety that will change your garden into an exotic paradise. This about 100 centimetres tall plant is adorned with subtle, numerous flowers. They consist of narrow, bent petals. They are way more delicate than Asiatic lily flowers, but nevertheless extremely ornamental. They are gathered in a loose, airy cluster at the top of the stalks. Myriads of martagon lily flowers wave picturesquely in the summer wind. The Orange martagon lily that is available here in our store produces flowers that take on a fresh, juicy, orange colour of a ripe tangerine fruit. Their lemon yellow, large anthers that stick out from in-between bent petals are also decorative.

Martagon lilies are rather undemanding when it comes to the site. They like both open sunny and partially shady sites. We recommend to provide them with humous, permeable soil. Should the soil in your garden be clay and compact, mix it with deacidified peat before planting of the bulbs. Put a thick gravel layer at the bottom of the hole too. Bulbs will grow and flower healthily in such conditions for years to come. The winter hardy martagon lily does not need any protection from frost. It is a vigorous and resistant species. It looks best in groups of three to five plants. We recommend to combine the presented orange variety with its Pink relative. Presented plant will also harmonise with other erect summer perennials, such as lupin, foxtail lily, phlox, canna, and the exuberant tree lilies. The variety offered here can also be planted in large, deep planters on a balcony and terrace.
