The Regina alumroot is a spectacular perennial that forms dome-shaped tufts. Its large heart-shaped leaves that take on an unusual purple colour are decorated with a silvery coating and darker venation. The up to 40 centimetres tall pillow-like plants are built of densely arranged leaves that sit on long petioles. In high summer, slender shoots with tiny pink flowers appear over the foliage and further increase the decorative value of the plant. Alumroot belongs to perennials that are recommended for edgings, naturalistic plantings, compositions under trees, and creation of colourful accents in planters. It looks spectacular grown in larger groups or even as a covering plant.
