The Ruby Port red double-flowered columbine is a perennial plant whose height does not exceed 70 centimetres. It develops erect stems on which subtle compound leaves grow. Their intricate form makes plant decorative before the flowering period. Numerous double flowers start to appear in May. From the moment the plants will produce flower buds until end of July. Blooms that consist of tear-shaped petals resemble small pompoms (the measure about 5 cm in diameter). The beautiful, saturated colour is the main asset of the Ruby Port cultivar. This charming plant is worth using it as decoration on garden borders and lawns, flower beds and planters. Columbines look spectacular spread over a larger area.
