Woodland crocus "Whitewell Purple" (Crocus tommasinianus) belongs to the earliest blooming representatives of its family. This low growing bulbous perennial grows up to 10 cm tall and develops large, bowl-shaped flowers consisting of slender petals that are narrower than in the most of the popular varieties. Petals of the "Whitewell Purple" crocus are not only smaller, but also characteristically coloured – the purple edges surround the silvery centres. You may enjoy them from March until the first decade of April. This charming, totally frost-resistant and undemanding plant may be easily introduced to lawns, but it will also find its place in rock gardens and on borders.

Plant "Whitewell Purple" crocus bulbs in autumn on a partially shady or sunny site onto the drained soil rich in humus. Crocusses propagate well in Central European climate conditions and spread broader each year, forming magnificent flower carpets. The variety offered here in our store is no exception and may stay on one site for several years, producing more and more flowers each season.
