The light pink "Darwin's Dream" astilbe (Astilbe x arendsii) is a low growing variety that develops subtle, exceptionally ornamental inflorescences in form of broad, fluffy ears. It will thrive in shaded garden spots, where other flowering plants could not properly develop, as a humidity and shade loving plant. The light pink, charming blooms of the "Darwin's Dream" false spirea, as the astilbe is sometimes called, can be admired in July and August, but its odd pinnate, intricately denticulate, deep green leaves remain ornamental the whole season long. This plant grows up to 45 cm tall (with the inflorescences).

Rhizomes of the astilbe should be planted in spring in partial shade, on the fertile, sufficiently moist soil, preferably enriched with compost. This frost resistant and long-lived plant enjoys the company of shrubs, trees and feels good at pond edges. We recommend to plant it in larger groupings of the same variety or combined with astilbes developing brightly coloured blooms, such as "Burgundy Red", "America" and "Amethyst". It harmonises beautifully with the pink heart-leaved bergenia and low growing hosta varieties with leaves adorned with white edges.

One package contains 1 large and healthy rhizome sized 2/3. Plant growing instructions were included in the package information.
