The Gravetye Giant summer snowflake belongs to extraordinary bulbous plants with its pendulous white flowers and rich grassy foliage. Graceful snowflake flowers form beautiful, fairy-tale fields. They are subtle, bell-shaped, and decorated with a yellow-green dot on the top of each petal. The picturesque, easy-to-grow, snowflake is perfectly suited for planting in large groups that decorate places under trees and larger shrubs. It would also look great on a border or a rock garden. It is one of the few bulbous plants that tolerates damp places, which allows you to plant it near water reservoirs. Over the years, it can form delightful bedding. Well-developed and naturalized Gravetye Giant summer snowflake grows forty to sixty-five centimetres (sixteen to twenty-six inches) tall, quite an impressive size for this species. This endearing plant flowers in May.

You can start planting snowflake bulbs in August already. Plant them in ten centimetres (four inches) deep holes and ten to fifteen centimetres (four to six inches) apart. Plants of this species like semi-shaded, moist places with humous and permeable soil. They also tolerate sunny positions, provided that those are sufficiently moist. Snowflakes do not like transplanting and feel well left on the same site for several years. They are resistant to low temperatures and very rarely attacked by pests. This plant is a real gem, especially for all lovers of naturalistic and English gardens.
