Hosta, plantain lily “Banana Bay” sports brightly coloured leaves that would bring light into shady garden spots. This variety quickly develops low, dense tufts reaching 40-50 cm in height. The centres of leaf petioles are bright yellow, while the edges are pale green. The lavender-coloured blooms appear in summer atop long, erect stalks. The “Banana Bay” hosta may act as bedding plant, be grown in the shade cast by trees and shrubs or on shady perennial borders.

Hostas may be planted directly into the soil in spring and autumn. These plants thrive well in the shade or partial shade, although they tolerate locations more exposed to sunlight.
