The Red Beauty canna can become a spectacular ornament of a summer border or a planter on a terrace. This stunning plant with large oval leaves that resemble foliage of a banana tree (one of its relatives) brings a tropical charm to gardens and pots alike. Scarlet flowers with wide petals that appear over the lush foliage look simply breath-taking. Contrasting juicy green leaves and bright red flowers is so characteristic that it makes the variety perfect for designing distinct, colourful arrangements. Variety offered here belongs to lower-growing canna lilies, as it reaches height of fifty to seventy centimetres. It makes it a perfect candidate for pots and planters.

Central European climate allows only for seasonal cultivation of canna lilies. Plant rhizomes in containers in March and let them grow indoors at a temperature around 15ºC. Plants do not need a lot of light or water until they start developing leaves. Move pots to a better lit and warmer place after the shoots appear. Plant seedlings in garden after May 15, when they are no longer threatened by frost. Still, harden the plants beforehand.
Canna lily rhizomes cannot winter in the ground. After the first wave of cold in autumn, carefully dig them out with a lump of earth. Let them dry and place in boxes filled with moist peat, sand, or sawdust. Store them in cool, dry room until the next planting in spring.

Each package contains one first-choice rhizome of the Red Beauty canna lily. Look for basic plant facts and growing tips on the package label.
