The Irys is a productive, very early potato variety. Its regularly shaped, oval or slightly elongated tubers reach large and medium size. Irys potato consists of the white flesh covered with a yellowish skin with medium shallow holes. Irys belongs the most popular white-flesh varieties. It delights with its taste, but is only of standard storability. This variety is moderately resistant to bacterial and fungal diseases, and partially sensitive to periodic drought. Irys is an edible potato of the cooking type B, hence predestined for general use. It is characterized by a medium starch content, and therefore slightly less moist after cooking. You can boil, fry, and roast them, as well as make into canned and frozen food.

Irys is a potato of moderate cultivation requirements. We recommend preparing the potato planting site well in advance, optimally in the autumn the year before. Soil requires deep cultivation, thorough weeding, and fertilizing with manure or vermicompost. You can also apply plant compost right before planting seed potatoes. Choose a slightly acidic soil and keep it moderately moist. Start Irys planting when the soil temperature reaches 8-10°C at the recommended planting depth. The recommended planting depth for seed potatoes is 14 centimetres. It is best to grow seed potatoes of the offered size in rows 75 centimetres apart, spaced every 28 to 30 centimetres.
