The white flowered Persian fritillary belongs to the Liliaceae family. Like the majority of its cousins, it dazzles with over average beauty. Its tall stems are densely covered with flowers and eagerly present their charms on garden borders. A group of several Persian fritillaries can become an intriguing garden ornament. This magnificent beauty originates from Turkey. It blooms at the end of April and at the beginning of May in Central European climate.
A thick stem surrounded by dense foliage shoots from a relatively large bulb. The whole plant is covered with a waxy coating that adds a hint of grey and yellow to its colour. The flowers gradually appear on the stem. The goblet-shaped bells set on thin peduncles are creamy-white-green. The cluster of flowers takes on a cone shape. It looks truly amazing, thanks to the contrasting colouring too.
The Persian fritillary should be planted in fertilise soil that is rich in nutrients and additionally enriched with compost. It likes sunny or partially shady sites. We recommend to carefully choose the site for fritillary cultivation, as this plant does not like to get excavated and brings best results when grown for several years at the same site. The excess of water can hurt the plant. We recommend to protect the bulb with a drainage layer of sand or grow it on a an elevation.
White Persian fritillaries are typical flower bed plants. They are perfect for growing together with other bulbous and spring perennials. Its tall inflorescences consisting of greenish bells look great at building walls and at the background of a fence. The unusual flower colour enables creation of unique arrangements and gradual change of colour saturation on the borders.
Each package contains 10 bulbs of the white flowered Persian fritillary, sized 20 to 22 cm. The essential plant growing information is printed on each package.
