The mountain tulip (Tulipa wilsoniana), also known as Wilson's tulip, will add surprising colours to an early spring flower bed or rock garden. The species offered in our store captivates with fantastic, deeply coloured, ruby ??red flowers. A black eye adorns the base of the flower and creates a nice contrast with bright yellow stamens. Colour arrangement and saturation make this lovely little tulip similar to poppy flowers, evoking dreams of the summer. Apart from the colours, presented variety offers everything we love about botanical tulips: timeless form and charm of single flowers, early flowering period in April, durability, longevity, and low cultivation requirements.
Plant mountain tulip bulbs in autumn eight centimetres (about three inches) apart. This dwarf variety that does not grow taller than twenty centimetres (eight inches), tends to get lost in flowerbeds when planted in a small group. Plant it in groups of ten to fifteen plants or combine it with its differently coloured relatives, such as the yellow-orange Tubergen's Gem, pastel orange Bronze Charm, and purple-and-gold Eastern Star. The site can be sunny or slightly shaded. The mountain tulip quickly naturalizes its site and does not require frequent excavation of the bulbs. It is perfect for flower beds, borders, lawns, rockeries, walls, path edgings, and fences.
One package contains five bulbs of the mountain tulip, sized six to seven centimetres (two-and-a-half to three inches) in circumference. Essential growing instructions can be found on the package.
