Red butterhead lettuce "Sahim" (Lactuca sativa) not only provides us with valuable, low-calorie and full of vitamins food, but also decorates vegetable beds. This medium early variety predestined for open air cultivation does not form the blooms too early. It forms tight, regular heads with nice, slightly wrinkled and wavy leaves. Their intensely red colour immediately draws one's attention. Easily digestible, delicate in taste butterhead lettuce "Sahim" can be served in salads, sandwiches or used as dish garnish. It contains plenty of vitamin C, beta-carotene, fibre and mineral nutriens, while it does not store the harmful nitrates.
Seeds of the presented variety can be sown the whole spring long until middle of the summer directly into ground. The soil should be thoroughly areated and rather fertile. Both summer droughts and abundance of water may harm the lettuce, so it is advised to make sure that the soil is medium compact and permeable. Decorative heads of the red butterhead lettuce are ready to be harvested within 60 to 70 days after sowing, early in the summer or at the beginning of autumn, depending on the date of planting.
Each packet contains 1 g of red butterhead lettuce "Sahim" seeds. Growing guide and sow-by date are included in the package information.
