"Lento" lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. capitata) is a variety intended for all year long cultivation in the field. It develops large, compact, round heads that consist of vividly green, soft and juicy leaves. It is resistant to shooting seed branches as well as several mildew varieties. This variety is perfectly suited for direct consumption in salads and decorating of sandwiches and plates. Lettuce leaves are recommended in all kinds of diets, because they are low-calorie, give long-lasting feeling of satiety, support digestion and are source of numerous vitamins, calcium, magnesium, iron and carotene.
Seeds of the "Lento" lettuce have been placed on biodegradable, cellulose tape that allows to spread them evenly in the soil, eliminating the need to thin the seedlings after the emergence. Place seed tapes early from spring to summer directly on the ground in rows 30 cm apart, ca. 2 cm deep, cover with soil and water abundantly. You will be able to harvest lettuce heads until first autumn frosts. Lettuce yields richest crops on sunny sites in fertile, humous, sandy-clay, rapidly warming up soils.
