The BIO butterhead lettuce "Queen of May" (Lactuca sativa) is one of the most coveted cultivars of short vegetation period intended for growing in plastic tunnels, greenhouses and in open field. The variety offered here produces large heads of densely packed, large, light green, appetizing, juicy leaves with soft, wrinkled surface. Delicious taste of the "Queen of May" lettuce, grown from certified organic seeds, makes it an ideal vegetable to be eaten directly in sandwiches and salads. Its green leaves contain plenty of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins B9, C, E, kalium, magnesium and iron. Lettuce has also an deacidifying effect and supports the metabolism thanks to high fibre content.

Seeds are sown early in spring under covers, or a little later directly. Butterhead lettuce "Queen of May" is rather undemanding in regard to soil and will yield rich crops in any fertile, permeable and moderately moist ground. Depending on the time of sowing and cultivation method its delicious leaves are harvested from July until September.

The BIO seeds available in our store come from organic seed farms that produce their seed material according to EU regulations. Parent plants from which the seeds are collected are cultivated in an environment-friendly manner, without the use of chemical control agents, nor artificial fertilizers. The seeds are also 100% GMO-free. Packaging of the seeds has also been manufactured with nature in mind - packaging material comes from PEFC-certified forests.

Each packet contains 5 g of organic "Queen of May" lettuce seeds. The package contains growing instructions and the sow-by date.
