Coral Bells is a perennial plant with very short, yet richly-leafed shoots that collectively make low densely packed bunches. At the tops of the 40 centimetres tall shoots grow the beautiful inflorescences that decorate the plant from May to August. Coral Bells is a very interesting variety to cultivate in perennial beds, rockeries, or for a cut flower.
Growing: sow the seeds in planter boxes from April to May; lightly press the seeds into the soil using a small board. The seeds germinate in 2 to 3 weeks. Prick out the seedlings that grow too densely into pots or into pallet planters. Plant out into a permanent position in 20-30cm spacings from August to September. Grow the plants in relatively moist fertile soils, preferably in partly shaded positions.
