The "Blue Mouse Ears" Hosta is a charming miniature variety. Its small. bluish, and slightly wrinkled leaves are almost perfectly circular. It belongs to the most popular dwarf plantain lily varieties. The "Blue Mouse Ears" is perfectly suited for borders, edgings, covering larger areas, and growing in pots. Thick, flesh leaves are five to eight centimetres long and equally broad. The colouring of the petioles changes at the end of summer to dark green. Flower clusters, that consist of lavender-blue, bell-shaped flowers, tower over the dense tufts of green leaves on stiff, short stems from June to August. A fully developed tuft grows 15 centimetres tall and twice as broad. The presented Hosta variety has bee awarded the Royal Horticultural Society award for its ornamental properties. This is an official proof of the uniqueness of this dwarf plant.

Ornamental Hosta leaves allow you to combine it with a variety of plant species. The diversity of varieties enable gardeners to create wonderful arrangements of only one species. Various leave shapes, colours, textures, and venation patterns offer great possibilities. Hosta magnificently complement annual plants, such as the ever-flowering begonia and busy Lizzie. Hosta leaves that unfold in the spring offer great company for bulb plants. A composition of Hosta with perennials that share the same requirements offer a great solution for shady spots. The natural look of such arrangements are timeless and looks great during all seasons.

The variety that we present here is fully resistant to frost. It prefers partially shady sites. It thrives under three canopies, where sunlight is blocked by the dense foliage. A mixture of sunrays and shade proves to be ideal for plantain lilies. Hosta like fertile, humous, constantly moist, permeable soil with a slightly acidic reaction.

Hosta rhizomes can be planted almost all season long, though spring and summer (from April to August) are considered the optimal timeframe for this activity. Plant the rhizome 10 to 12 centimetres deep. These plants display great vigour and develop quite quickly.

The price quoted here is valid for one premium-class rhizome of the presented Hosta variety. The bag with the rhizome is equipped with a label that contains basic plant facts and growing instructions.
