The crown imperial of the new Bach variety is a spectacular bulbous perennial. This noble plant attracts attention with its coral-red bell-shaped flowers. The fan of small leaves that towers over the ring of flowers rounds up the elegant presentation of this plant. The beautiful bells remain on the stalk for 2 to 3 weeks. The crown imperial or imperial fritillary, as it is also called, grows large. It reaches height of 60 to 90 cm, depending on the growing conditions and weather in the given season. You will achieve the outstanding visual effects thanks to growing larger plant groups together. This plant harmonizes with the tulips that sparkle in the sun and daffodils. A contrasting composition with grape hyacinths will also catch your eye. The Bach crown imperial's strong scent effectively attracts bees and other insects. What is also important, the distinct smell of the bulbs repels voles that are responsible for quite some damage in the garden.

The impressive plants that grow from large bulbs prefer sunny situations. You can also plant them on sites lit with dispersed light, such as the vicinity of thin trees. The flowering takes place in April and May. The sturdy stems surrounded by a wreath of lanceolate leaves carry whorls consisting of 6 to 12 bell shaped, downward facing flowers. An impressive fan of sepals towers over them.

The impressive bulbs of the crown imperial require a permeable, humous and deeply cultivated soil. They require a moist, yet permeable soil. Plant them rather deep, so the tips are about 20 cm below the soil surface. Start the planting at the end of August and continue until the end of September. Cover the plantings with conifer twigs and dried leaves for the winter. The bulbs do not need to be excavated after each and every season.

The Bach variety is a reliable seasonal decoration of a border or a perennial grouping planted among the lower growing species. It looks spectacular in groupings on lawns. The rows of crown imperial plants look great when planted alongside building walls and fences.

The price quoted here is valid for 10 pieces of the Bach crown imperial bulbs that measure 14/+ cm in circumference.
