Marigold, Tagetes seeds
You will find seeds of several marigold species in our store – French marigold, Mexican marigold and signet marigold. These plants do not require any special conditions and will thrive both at sunny and partially shady sites. You can plant marigolds on borders, flower beds, in pots or rock gardens. They adorn gardens from early summer until late autumn. These plants find their way to city lawns and flower beds, too.
If you think about growing French marigold that produces large-diameter blooms, there is plenty of varieties that differ in colour and size of the flowers that you can choose from. We recommend the „Mr Majestic” cultivar that bears splendid, yellow-burgundy bloom whorls. „Orange Flame” is another interesting variety that produces anemone-like inflorescences consisting of yellow disc flowers and dark red ray flowers. Mexican marigold grows quite tall, up to 80 cm. We recommend seeds of the „Fantastic” variety with yellow inflorescences and the lemony-yellow cultivar that blooms extremely long and abundantly. Signet marigold develops a smaller habit. You may choose from „Red Gem” and „Orange Gem” varieties. Low growing variety of the French marigold, whose seeds we also have in stock, fits well into pots. The „Vanilla” cultivar would be the one to go for.
Marigolds are not only ornamental plants, but have other applications, too. They belong to allelopathic plants that excrete specific chemicals that repel some pests. Marigold oils are also used in the cosmetics industry. What is even more interesting, marigold blooms are edible and are a great addition to salads or beautiful garnish for many dishes.
