"Valencia" low growing French marigold (Tagetes patula nana) is a dwarf variety of the popular and beloved marigold. No wonder that this cultivar, valued for beautiful, bright blooms, abundant and long-term blooming and easy cultivation, belongs to the most popular garden plants. This annual grows 15 - 35 cm tall in the blooming period. Small green bushes end with double flowers that take on an attractive orange colouring. Blooming time spreads from the beginning of summer until late autumn. French marigold will be an interesting, colourful addition to garden borders and flower beds, but it would also form great decoration of boxes and pots on balconies and terraces.

French marigolds can be easily grown from seeds, whether from seedlings or direct sow to the field. You may prepare seedlings early in the spring in a warm and bright place. Young plants may be transferred outside in May, after the risk of spring frosts have passed. French marigold seeds should be sown to the field end of April / beginning of May. You should choose sunny sites for marigold cultures, but it grows well in partial shade, too. French marigold tolerates almost every kind of soil, although it will produce more blooms if you provide it with access to nutrients and water.
