French marigold of the Edible Flowers series would fill your garden with blooms in different shades of yellow and orange. These popular annual flowers are commonly grown on garden borders and in balcony boxes. Apart from that, French marigold blooms may be added to many different dishes. Edible are both the petals and leaves of this species. The petals enchant with a pleasant, citrus flavour, resembling the taste of the grapefruit peel. They are used in traditional Mexican cookies, but may also be added to soups, salads or used as dish garnishing. In Georgia they are used as saffron substitute. The leaves with their strong, lemony-balsamic aroma are used as herb. They go particularly well with meat.

French marigold is very easy in cultivation and undemanding, too. This plant thrives in dry and sunny places. It would grow on almost every soil, yet medium fertile, permeable and moderately moist soil would suit it best. French marigold may be easily grown from seeds, sown in spring directly to borders, or a little earlier under covers. The plants bloom continuously from June to first frosts. They please the eye and constitute an excellent addition to many meals.

Each package contains 1 g of the Edible Flowers French marigold variety mix seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
