Marigold is the queen of annual plants. You will have a hard time finding a gardener who had not, if only once, grown this flower in her or his garden. Why' This plant is practically flawless. Grows in almost all conditions, blooms until the first autumn frosts, is disease and drought resistant and repels pests. Aztec marigold or African marigold are two of the common names this plant is known under.
We offer variety selection of one of the marigold plants, Tagetes erecta, in our store. This is the tallest of the marigolds. Its stiff stems reach height of even 1 m and form a bushy, broad habit. Blooms consisting of corrugated petals and resembling carnations form on the tops of stiff stalks. Colours of the pom-pom like marigold inflorescences are clear and saturated. You will find yellow, golden and orange flowers in the presented selection. Tender, feathery leaves adorn the plants as well.
As already mentioned, marigold is a truly undemanding plant. We can plant it both in sunny and partially shady sites. It is very resistant to drought and requires watering only in dry summers, although regualar watering supports mass forming of flower buds. You do not need any agricultural care measures in marigold cultivation. This is an ideal plant for busy and forgetting people. Topping of the Mexican marogild (cutting it down right over the bloom) stimulates it to produce new stalks and hence, flowers. Blooming seasons begins in June and lasts until October.
Mexican marigold comes in useful everwhere, where tall, quickly growing annual plants are needed. Perennial flower bed will become more charming, if we decorate the back corners with shining golden selection of these flowers. We might as well sow the seeds separately, creating a grouping of tall plants. They will harmonise with other annual flowers at multi-species flower beds. They please the eyes with vivid colours in urban plant arrangements, where they found their way to thanks to high resistance. If you are insensitive to the charactic small of these flowers, use it as cut flowers that would last even two weeks. Their long stems predestine Mexican marigold for such use. It also finds its use in the kitchen, as garnish or salad ingredient. Apart from the great looks, this species of marigold repels pests of any kind due to its high eseenstial oil contents. Lice, ants, moles and nematodes hate them. This plant may also limit growth of some weeds.
We recommend to buy at least one package of Mexican marigold seeds, they are really worth it.
Seeds of the Mexican marigold are packed in paper bag that contains 0.5 of seed material and growing instructions.

The quality control process
All our seeds must pass a four-stage quality control process.
Stage one begins with a careful selection of the suppliers. Than we proceed with controlling their crops, foreign producers are not excluded from the quality control process. Plants are checked at every stage of their development: when they start to grow, during blooming and when they start bearing fruit (seeds). At this stage the most important thing is to ensure proper spacing of the plants. Thanks to that obtaining the desired morphological characteristics of each particular species or variety, such as colour, height and shape, can be ensured.
Stage two consists of a detailed verification tests in laboratory conditions. With the use of the highest quality equipment by the highly qualified staff, our suppliers perform more than 30 000 quality checks annually. The seeds that do not meet our requirements are subject to technological refining processes, including drying, cleaning, upgrading and testing again.
Stage three starts with sowing seeds in selected control plots. That way we obtain valuable, exact information concerning their germination that must be maintained at an appropriate level. Simultaneously, the varietal identity of each species is checked at this stage.
Stage four takes place in our warehouses and consists of eliminating seeds that have been stored for too long on our shelves and replacing them with new batches. Each package is stamped with a unique batch number and also with the sow-by-date.
All four stages combined allow us to state with confidence that the seeds we deliver comply with the highest standards and have completed all required control stages with flying colours.
