The 'Beda' alfalfa (Medicago sativa) belongs to the most valuable pasture plants. It is characterized by high yield and nutritional value. It supplies protein-rich green fodder and hay-silage that is recommended for milk and meat cattle. The 'Beda' alfalfa offered here in our store is a perennial variety that is valued for its quick regrowth after each cut. The plants develop dense foliage and its stems contain only a limited amount of cellulose. These features allow you to obtain premium quality raw material for green fodder and silage. This plant can also be used as green fertilizer. The stubbles left after the harvest in the field will enrich the soil and improve its structure.
Alfalfa is perfectly suited for dry and sunny situations where red clover does not grow that abundantly. Medium compact, aerated soils with neutral or slightly alkaline reaction prove to be the best for alfalfa. It brings the highest yield, though, on fertile and moderately moist soil. Alfalfa can be grown from pure sow or undersown into a protective plant, such as summer cereals or fodder barley. The seeding rate for this plant is 20 to 25 kg/ha. Alfalfa should be cut in the middle of the flowering period. It grows back rapidly, allowing you to cut again after circa eight weeks. You will be able to perform up to four cuttings
One package contains 1 kg of the 'Beda' alfalfa seeds. The sow-by date has been printed on the package.
