Bush bean - Igolomska - for dry beans - 500 g - Seeds

Igolomska is a very early maturing dwarf variety of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), valued for its high yield potential, uniform pod ripening, and excellent disease resistance. The plants are compact and upright, growing up to 50 cm tall, and do not require staking. This reliable variety is well-suited for both home gardens and commercial cultivation.

Sowing and position

Sow seeds directly into the soil from mid-May onwards, once the risk of frost has passed. The recommended sowing depth is 2-3 cm, with a spacing of 40 × 50 cm. Igolomska beans grow best in warm, sunny locations, in light, well-drained, and fertile soil. Enrich the soil in advance with well-rotted compost or manure for optimal results.

Cultivation and care

This variety is easy to grow and undemanding. It does not require supports and performs well under typical field conditions. Moderate watering is important, especially during dry periods. Excessive moisture may adversely affect seed development. Regular weeding and loosening of the soil will support healthy growth and maximise productivity.

Disease resistance

Igolomska exhibits strong resistance to anthracnose - one of the most serious bean diseases. This trait is particularly important in variable weather conditions, as it improves the reliability of the crop without the need for chemical treatments.

Harvest period

The vegetation period is approximately 100-110 days. Harvesting typically begins in mid-August and may continue into September. The pods mature uniformly, making the harvest efficient - whether done manually or mechanically. This characteristic makes Igolomska an excellent choice for high-output farming.

Usage

The beans are white, cylindrical, and of medium size. With around 24% protein in dry matter, they are an excellent plant-based protein source. Ideal for cooking, drying, preserving, and freezing, they suit a variety of dietary preferences including traditional, vegetarian, and high-protein cuisine.
