The 'Gea' alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a productive variety that thrives throughout Europe. It brings high quality fodder that supplies animals with protein, vitamins, minerals and other valuable organic compounds. The plants develop erect stems that are densely covered with leaves. All green parts of alfalfa provide tasty and delicate raw material for high protein green fodder, silage and hay. The variety presented here grows back quickly and is resistant to heavy-duty use, hence is perfectly suited for ongoing grazing. Alfalfa is grown mostly for fodder, less commonly as melliferous plant. Do not forget that its remainders left in the field after the harvest constitute an excellent natural fertilizer.

Several features of the 'Gea' variety are exceptionally useful. It is hardy and drought-resistant. It develops quickly in spring, providing farm animals with fresh fodder. It will yield rich crops even in case of water shortages. It grows well on dry and sunny situations, even though it prefers fertile ground. Thanks to the symbiosis with the Rhizobium bacteria it does not require nitrogen fertilization. Grow alfalfa on permeable, moderately moist and moderately compact soil. Pure sow of the 'Gea' alfalfa requires a seeding rate of 20 to 25 kg/ha. You can also undersow into a protective plant, such as barley. Sowing with grass selections brings good results too. Cut alfalfa when the flowers are fully opened. It grows back remarkably quickly and allows to perform even four to five cuts during a season.

One package contains 0.5 kg of the 'Gea' alfalfa seeds. The sow-by date has been printed on the package.
