The dwarf, amaranth-red "Duszek (Ghost)" aster (Callistephus chinensis) is a beautiful annual plant that develops exceptionally large, double flowers that take on a beautiful, intense colour. The variety available in our store belongs to dwarf asters. It grows up to 20 cm tall and develops a shapely, compact habit. Its abundantly leaved shoots are crowned with flowers that consist of densely packed, elongated petals. "Duszek" aster blooms in the second half of summer and in early autumn.
The plant offered in our store can be grown both from seedlings and from direct sow to a permanent position. Plants grown from seedlings bloom earlier, starting in early July already. Seeds of the "Duszek" aster can be sown into any permeable seedling soil, in boxes, seeding trays or multi-pots. Sow seeds indoors in early spring and directly in the open field in the second half of May. A tiny, long-blooming amaranth-red aster may be grown on a flowerbed or in a rock garden. It is also perfect for pot cultivation on the balconies and terraces. Since the plant takes the form of a compact, low growing tuft, it provides excellent material for colourful edgings around a perennial flower bed, lawn, vegetable garden or along a garden path. Miniature asters with double flowers look fantastic in the company of, among other plants, marigold, Mexican marigold, dwarf dahlias and fine zinnia.
Each package contains 1 g of the amaranth-red "Duszek" dwarf aster seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by-date are included in the package information.
