White cedar is a shrub with a conical crown that grows 0.5 to 2 metres in height and 0.7 to 1.2 metres in width. This frost-resistant plant is a slow-growing variety with beautiful shiny leaves that are vivid green on the outside, and a little brigher and dull on the inside. The White cedar fruit are one centimetre long cones. This is a perfect variety for making hedges, surrounding parks and cementaries, where it can often be come across.
Growing: sow the seeds in pots (8 to 10 centimetres in diameter) or in pallet planters from March to May. Sow the seeds into a mixture of water and sand. When the seeds germinate, ensure the plant is properly moisturized and cultivated at the temperature of 25°C. The germination phase lasts 4 to 5 weeks. Plant out into a permanent position in the autumn. This variety grows well in any type of soil, which only needs to be moist enough. The plants thrive in sunny or semi-shaded positions.
