The Yellow Anemone (Anemone ranunculoides) is a perennial plant belonging to the buttercup family that thrives in lowland areas. Growing up to a height of 20 cm, this plant is commonly found in alder thickets and deciduous forests. The Yellow Anemone features erect, unbranched stems adorned with three whorled, three-part leaves. Each stem produces one or two vibrant yellow flowers, consisting of 5-6 petals and a plethora of stamens and pistils at the centre.

Flowering from March to May, the golden blooms of this anemone are a harbinger of spring. They close during cloudy and cold days and turn towards the sun when the weather is favourable. The abundant foliage lasts until July, after which the plant goes dormant.

Best suited for sunny to semi-shaded positions, the Yellow Anemone thrives in moist, humus-rich, neutral or slightly alkaline soil. It boasts excellent frost resistance, thanks to its underground rhizomes.
