The 'Kora' buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) is an annual plant that belongs to the Polygonaceae or knotweed family. The 'Kora' variety presented here is characterized by abundant growth, as it can grow 100 to 120 centimetres tall and brings exceptionally rich seed yield. Due to its medium dense foliage the volume of the green mass is not that abundant. Buckwheat is grown first and foremost for seed that is used in production of gluten-free groats, flour and breakfast cereal flakes. It is considered medicinal plant for years and commonly used as medicinal herb. It is also a valuable melliferous plant that brings 40 to 100 kg of honey from one hectare of culture. It is less commonly grown for green fodder as it is rather unproductive and may cause allergies in farm animals. We recommend, however, to use it in the crop rotation due to its phytosanitary properties. Buckwheat will significantly reduce the amount of nematodes in the soil.

The 'Kora' variety offered here in our store can adjust to various weather and soil conditions. It is highly resistant to cold periods in spring and periodical drought. The 'Kora' buckwheat brings high yield even on lesser soils, yet the richest crops can be obtained from a fertile, moderately moist soil that has a close to neutral rotation. Buckwheat for seeds should be sown mid-May at the seeding rate of 60 to 70 kg/ha. It is a medium-early variety whose vegetation period lasts 85 to 95 days. It can also be grown for fodder or stubble crop. Sow until mid-July for that purpose, 100 kg of seeds per one hectare.
