The Richards Fortune dahlia of the anemone-flowered dahlias delights with fluffy flowers. Their saturated lily-pink colours become paler nearer the edge of the petals. The centre of the flower takes on a deep burgundy red colour that adds texture to the flowers. The tips of the charming flower pillows can sometimes turn white. Many gardeners compare this dahlia variety to eastern purple coneflowers that are similarly shaped. The vividly coloured Richards Fortune dahlia adds a wonderful subtle touch to garden and vase compositions. Dahlia allows you to create terrific arrangements both on a flower bed and in the vase due to its long flowering period that spans from mid-Summer to late autumn. The one metre tall dahlias will reign in the garden and spread their unforgettable charm.

Dahlia originates from Mexico and therefore loves sunlight and warmth. It is sensitive to cold and therefore can be grown only at the height of the vegetation season in Central Europe. After the first frost in autumn, dahlia stems must be pruned 10 to 20 centimetres over the ground and its carrot-like rootstocks excavated. Transfer the rootstock to a place where it can slightly dry. Remove soil rests and place the rootstocks in ventilated boxes that should be stored over the winter in a dry, cool place where temperatures would not fall below freezing point. In drier rooms, cover rootstocks with layers of peat or sawdust that will prevent dahlias from drying out completely. Rootstocks stored that way over the winter should be planted in the garden in the second half of may. You can begin earlier by forcing dahlias in pots placed in bright rooms.

A single package contains 10 pieces of premium quality dahlia rootstock of the Richards Fortune variety. Basic plant growing instructions can be found on the package.
