They prefer slightly acidic, humus-rich soil and a semi-shaded, wind-protected location. Watering should be consistent but moderate, and it's beneficial to feed the plants with a liquid multi-component fertiliser. To protect the tubers from frost, they should be dug up before winter, cleaned, and stored in a dry, airy room at a temperature of 7-12°C, covered with sand or sawdust.
