The flowering flax offered here will become a unique decoration of your flower bed with its white flowers adorned with a red eye. It develops 35 to 40 cm tall, broadly branching stems. The erect stalks covered with lanceolate, grey-green leaves tend to bend slightly under the weight of the flowers. Each stalk supports a loose cluster of flowers. A single flower usually consists of 5 petals and sits on a long petiole. The satin-glossy flowers reach 3 to 5 cm in diameter and are not very sturdy, but their number compensate for this. New blooms appear on the stem every day at the bottom of the inflorescence and maintaining its ornamental value for over a month. The fruit in form of round capsules are also considered ornamental. Flax constitutes a great addition to garden groupings and rows. We recommend to sow it in vicinity of rock gardens, walls and embankments. It will also fit into heathland and containers on balconies. This species starts to bloom at the beginning of June and continues to produce flowers until September.
The flowering flax prefers sunny sites and permeable, humous, not too moist soil. Sow in May or June onto a seedbed or directly to the ground. Transfer the seedlings to the permanent site in August.
One package contains 1 g of the white red-eyed flowering flax seeds. The basic plant facts and growing tips were printed on the back of the package.
