The garden star-of-Bethlehem (Ornithogalum umbellatum) is a rather small, adorable perennial that produces snow white, star-shaped flowers they appear in May and form umbellate cluster. Their diameter reaches up to 2.5 cm and the outer side of the petals is covered with pale green stripes. These charming flowers develop in large numbers and shyly emerge from the elongated, narrow, dark green leaves. The whole plant looks like an abundantly flowering grass tuft.

The perennial that we present here grows to 15 to 30 cm and spreads vigorously sideways. It prefers sunny or only partially shady sites. Plant the bulbs in autumn 10 cm deep and 10 to 15 cm apart into permeable soil that is rich in humus. The garden star-of-Bethlehem looks great in rock gardens and in the foreground of elevated borders. We recommend to grow it in large groupings accompanied by other perennials that bloom in spring. You can also grow it in larger pots and planters.

Each package contains 100 pieces of bulbs sized 6 to 7 cm in circumference. The bulbs offered in our store come from the Netherlands.
