Hybrid ryegrass belongs to pasture grasses. It came as a result of many years of research and crossing perennial ryegrass with the Italian rye-grass. Its morphology and capabilities are similar to those of their parent species with the Italian rye-grass holding a small advantage over its partner. This tall grass develops loose tufts. It can successfully compete with other species it may encounter on a meadow. This hybrid is sometimes called Oldenburg rye-grass and may be sown on short-term grasslands created on farmland. It shows higher resistance and is less prone to freezing than the Italian rye-grass. This feature allows you to use it for 2 - 3 years as hay meadow in a crop rotation scheme. It has similar soil requirements to the Italian rye-grass. It grows well on fertile, moderately moist soil - particularly those with high minerals' content. It yields rich crops of green forage that might be directly fed to the cattle, used for hay and silage production. What is even more important, you may use both freshly mown and slightly wilted grass for the latter purpose. This grass also belongs to valued after crop plants. It is delicious, rich in protein and sugar, hence eagerly consumed by milk cows. It will give you 3 - 4 main crop cuttings in a season.
We hereby offer 5 kg packages of the "Manawa" hybrid ryegrass seeds.
