Gloxinia "Kaiser Friedrich" (Sinningia speciosa) is an exceptionally decorative plant intended for pot cultivation indoors and in greenhouses. It may be transferred outside (in pots) during warm months, where it will become an ornament of a partially shady balcony, or terrace. This rather low growing plant does not get taller than 20 - 30 cm. Gloxinia develops characteristic, large, hairy leaves and large, cup-shaped flowers. The velvety flowers of the "Kaiser Friedrich" variety are red with white edges. They develop in large numbers from May until August and provide you with excellent visual effects.
Plant gloxinia bulbs into pots early in spring and keep them in a warm place. You may place the pots outside only after the last spring frosts are completely gone. Gloxinias prefer warm and sheltered, partially shady sites. They prefer nutrient-rich and permeable soils. They require frequent watering yet do not stand waterlogging. Cover the bulbs with a 5-cm layer of soil and plant them 20 cm apart. After the wilting of the inflorescences the plants should enter the dormancy stage, so please reduce the watering after that time. When the leaves have dried out, excavate the bulbs, and store them until spring.
One package contains 10 pcs of high quality tubers sized 6/+ cm.
