Large-flowered petunia "Smolicka Superbissima" (Petunia x hybrida superbissima) is a very attractive plant, ideal for balconies and windowsills. This magnificent hybrid develops extremely large blooms that may reach 10 cm in diameter. The medium long stems, reaching 30 - 40 cm in length, spread out and hang over. The blooms delight with size, colour palette, corrugated edges and nice veining. They take on white, pink, crimson, purple or carmine-red colour. The large-flowered petunia may serve as summer decoration in hanging baskets, balcony boxes and pots. This plant may also be grown in the ground. It will dazzle us with the abundance of blooms from spring to autumn.

Sowing is one of the petunia propagation methods. Sow seeds to seeding trays or boxes in a heated room. Petunia seeds are small and therefore should not be covered with soil. Make sure that the temperature stays within 18-22°C range and the plants have access to sunlight in order to ensure proper emergence. You should expect the sprouting in 2 - 3 weeks in such conditions. After 10 - 12 weeks the seedlings will be ready for planting at the site they should eventually mature. Transplant seedlings outside only after the risk of the late spring frosts is over. Petunias grow best and delight with the sea of large flowers planted on sunny sites in fertile, moderately moist soil. They will retain their great looks for months when regularly watered and fertilised.
