Multi-flowered bean, although not as popular as ordinary varieties, wins more and more supporters. A substantial part of the bean cultivation area is intended for dried seeds that can be bought in stores. Growing own plants and harvesting own pods is a way better idea. For this purpose we recommend the "Kontra" multi-flowered variety.

Multi-flowered "Kontra" bean for dried seeds is a valuable dwarf variety that does not need staking. The seeds reach almost the same size as the beloved giant beans. The "Kontra" variety offered here belongs to varieties sprouting side stems that entwine with stems of other plants forming compact rows. It is recommended both for hobby and industrial cultivation. Rather low growing, up to 40-45 cm in height, plants with compact habit produce pods filled with large seeds. White, shiny, kidney-shaped seeds are slightly flattened and veined on the surface. This extremely fruitful variety is medium late. It also shows great resistance against pod plant diseases.

The "Kontra" bean is an ideal variety for dried seeds that could be stored long-term. It can be universally used in soups and cream soups. Cooked beans often find their way into salads. Sometimes referred to as "vegetarian meat", this vegetable is the base of many meatless dishes. One of the most popular bean dishes are baked beans. This savoury dish, sometimes served with smoked bacon, qnd seasoned with majoran has a large following, as it is as tasty as it is nutritious. Numerous recipes for bean purees of different kinds, both hot and sweet, can easily be found.

Multi-flowered bean varieties have similar requirements as their ordinary relatives. They are, however, less resistant to low temperatures and need more water, especially right after sowing, in blooming and fruit development stages. This plant is also sensible to winds and prefers sheltered sites with quickly warming up soil that is also rich in humus. A very important factor in bean cultivation is protection against soil crusting and simultaneous weeding. Sowing should take place in the first half of May to harvest crops in August and September.

Multi-flowered bean for dried seeds is a valuable vegetable that should be included in the daily diet. Rich in vitamins and minerals, it can be stored long-term and does not need much place on a kitchen shelf. Disadvantages associated with bean consumption, like stodginess, can be easily taken care of. Eat beans, they are worth it.
